Darrin Giglio. The boss of a private investigation agency in New York, saw his profession highlighted by the case of DSK.

By FABRICE ROUSSELOT From our correspondent in New York

Among private investigators, we know the myth. In his office in Long Island, Darrin Giglio hung a Sherlock Holmes hat and coat on, down the hall, he placed a statue of the Maltese Falcon on the cabinet. ”It’s true, he says, there is a fantasy that goes with the profession. But do not believe everything you see on TV, it’s a job that requires discipline and seriousness. We work for clients who are often in dramatic situations, and try to get to the truth. ”

Cropped hair and broad shoulders of former Marine he was, Darrin Giglio is, 43 years at the helm of one of the largest private detective agencies in New York, North American Investigations. He has thirty PI (private investigators) under his command, and deals with “thousands of cases per year.” Private mills or on behalf of large companies, cases of missing persons and criminal cases, such as Dominique Strauss-Kahn.

By using one of these agencies, the “security company” Guidepost Solutions for delve into the past of the alleged victim who accused the former head of the IMF of sexual assault in a room at the Sofitel in Manhattan, lawyers for DSK highlighted a profession that generally prefers to work in the background. France has suddenly discovered the key role of private investigators in the U.S. judicial system. Of sleuths who are more than 50,000 U.S. and whose number is increasing, mainly because of insurance fraud and cybercrime. Not necessarily all of Philip Marlowe, rather meticulous and persevering investigators who operate discreetly.

Secrets, Giglio has a ton, but it is not ready to give way. He prefers to leave his office for the interview, “because there are too many things going on and it’s not a place for the press.” He does get into any details of its business and is reluctant to talk about his methods. ”Every detective has a way of doing things, he learned on the ground, he let go after long minutes of thinking, but let’s just say that the police have the same training. They generally know a way to get information. And they have to deal with the bureaucracy. We are ten ways to achieve the same information, and much faster. ”

If any “private” has a respectable degree awarded after a review that consists of some questions about the rules laid down in the profession, it does indeed no particular law. The PI must rely on its own ability to persuade. ”Often, it is useless to show his muscles, says Darrin, you have to ask the same questions again and again, listen to people talk about their family or their children to build confidence, and suddenly they will unleash an information. One would think also that just strum on the Internet to do the job, but it’s true. A good detective spends a lot of time analyzing every detail. He must learn to blend into an environment, to the actor, dye their hair red to go to a punk bar or put on his leather suit for sadomasos boxes. “Sometimes,” talent “is not enoughand money is an effective way to solve certain puzzles. Giglio: “There is nothing illegal in there, it pays people for their time in us.”

The majority of PI were spent in a police or law enforcement. But, in Giglio was totally spinning in the blood. It is the father, an Italian from Brooklyn, who first responded to an ad when he was 19 years. He started part-time, continuing his studies and quickly developed a passion for the business and founded his own company investigation, in the 60′s.

Darrin, he presents the ideal of the perfect CV PI. After four years in the Marines, he began studying criminal justice at St. Johns University in New York. There he is recruited by the famous Secret Service, the unit assigned to the United States for the protection of U.S. presidents and heads of state. It is not supposed to talk about, but still says he “took care” of George Bush. It was also a bodyguard for Donald Trump or Yannick Noah, when he came to play at Flushing Meadows. But “the pay is not good enough” and in 1992 he finally decided to buy the company from his father and establish his own, North American Investigations. ”I benefited from the experience of my father who always helps me in some cases. The detective meets a real demand in the United States. Lawyers and relatives of victims or the accused contact us because the investigation by prosecutors is not always complete and that the police are overwhelmed. ”

In New York, many lawyers point out that some cases may radically change the turn after the work of a good society investigation. If Darrin Giglio refuses to comment on the case of DSK, he nevertheless cautions that “often when we try a little, the version presented by the police is not always that which corresponds to reality.” A few weeks ago, he has discovered that a murder between two offenders did not fall under self-defense, as claimed by the police. The prosecutor’s office was forced to reopen the case.

Throughout the interview, the detective becomes a little less private. It says its prices between 10 000 and 15 000 dollars [6 500-10 000] for a survey week. He speaks of the “thrill” that he still has the spinning or “completely crazy things” he has seen in his career. As the boss of a large U.S. company that his wife had asked him to follow, and he found a club a little special, on all fours and attached to a leash … Giglio, for its part single without children, not having found “the right person.”

The detective is also left to describe the perfect case of PI, with binoculars, GPS, which is placed under the car under surveillance or cameras with zoom lenses oversized. It opens a black box, which is a camera hidden behind a shirt button, to bear testimony in the case of sensitive and difficult to obtain … “For me, it’s the best job in the world, ensures there I truly believe that I contribute to a fairer justice.Obviously, things are not always glamorous and everything is good to hear, but if I feel I have advanced an investigation, so I’m satisfied. “At the time of the photo, Darrinaccept even get into a car, as if in hideout. One of his neighbors, apparently fervent admiration, has the last word. ”He’s a character. A real James Bond. “

The Mind of a Cheater

Posted on: August 17, 2010 by admin

The Mind of a Cheater – After reading a recent article by Judy Dutton printed in the Daily News, we decided to help our readers get inside the mind of cheaters with some of the wonderful tips she had pointed out. If your significant other is living by these rules, you may want to speak to a professional, licensed investigator today to see if you have a cheating spouse on your hands.

Rule #1: Clearing the cache and cookies from a computer.
Rule #2: Keeping their cell on them at all times, so no one can check their call logs.
Rule #3: Treating their significant other like a queen.

Why would someone cheat if they are still treating their significant other like a queen? Are they unhappy? Bored or unsatisfied in their marriage? Researcher Shirley Glass says no. When polling more than 300 men and women on this question, she found 56% of men and 34% of women who had affairs rated their marriage as “happy” or even “very happy.” This comes to the point: Keeping someone happy at home is NOT a guarantee that your relationship will remain infidelity-free.

Interestingly enough, Todd Shackelford at Florida Atlantic University and David Buss at University of Texas conducted personality tests on 107 newlywed couples and disclosed that there were ONLY three reliable tip-offs that someone might cheat on you down the line.

3 Signs of a Cheater

  • Narcissism: Narcissists have an overdeveloped sense of self-importance, which often gives itself away in the tiniest actions.
  • Low conscientiousness: This is the inability to see how one’s actions impact others. These people tend to be late and forgetful, and are probably constantly apologizing for their slip-ups.
  • Psychoticism: This is a lack of self-control that can manifest itself in sudden disappearances or breaking off friendships without explanation.

Do these signs of a cheater pertain to your current relationship? Are these words hitting too close to home? If so, you may want to speak to a private investigator for a free consultation. Seeking a professional’s opinion grants you an objective third party perspective that is100% unbiased and confidential. Let us help you find peace of mind in your time of need.

Cell Phone Records

Posted on: February 23, 2010 by admin

Cell phone records – We receive numerous calls a day, from people in hopes of obtaining cell phone / text message records.  Please be aware that it is illegal to do so, and any private investigator practicing this technique to obtain information is doing something illegal, that will not help you in court.  Sen. Chuck Schumer, a New York Democrat, proposed legislation H.R. 4709: Law Enforcement and Phone Privacy Protection Act of 2006, and S. 2178: Consumer Telephone Records Protection Act of 2006, both passed committee. This law has made it no longer possible to legally purchase such information (cell phone bills).  Please be aware that unless you are the actual owner of the phone and you can prove it, cell phone bills are unattainable.

Using cell phone bill records to obtain crucial information in an investigation is also outdated, because many cheating spouses now use a “throw-away-phone.”  These disposable phones are cheap and can cost as low as $10 to purchase.  One can purchase minutes as they use the phone, and there is no billing information or accounts linked to the actual telephone number.

Please call North American Investigations at 800-724-8080 today to see more up to date techniques of how to catch a cheating spouse.  Each investigation is tailored to your individual needs, and a package will be created to help you determine if your spouse is cheating and ultimately, give you the peace of mind you are in hopes of.  We offer a free consultation 24 hours, 7 days a week.

Online Dating Background Checks

Online Dating Background Checks -

This week, a 24 year old man was accused of impersonating Guess model “Bree Condon” on internet dating site, SeekingMillionaire.com.  The 24 year old was deceiving wealthy men by posting photos of the model in order to obtain money.  Model “Bree Condon” hired a private investigator to disclose who the suspect was, and found Justin Brown who was then indicted on a felony theft charge.

At a private investigation company, we see similar cases to this regularly.  Many men and women think they are dating the person of their dreams, and are left only to find that they have been humiliated and taken advantage of.  Here are some tips from licensed private investigators to help you avoid being heartbroken, scammed, and deceived on the internet:

Watch out for anyone who seems too good to be true. Start with chatting online and on the internet before immediately meeting in person.  See if there are any odd behaviors you notice, or any lies you begin to catch.  Remember to trust your instincts and if the story you are being told is too elaborated, chances are, it probably is.

Common Sense:  Do not think you are ‘dating’ someone you have never met.  Is the person telling you they are having financial problems? Do they always have some sort of excuse when you try to meet with them? Are they saying they want to meet you but cannot afford the trip? Do not lend out money to strangers!   Are they lying? Internet lovers are said to lie about themselves more than half the time – do not believe anything without facts!

Request a Photo: See if the photo of the person is real.  Though this is not always possible, if the person

Chat on the Phone: Make sure they don’t have you calling a 1-900 number or something in another country.  These numbers can bring your telephone bill up to hundreds of dollars.  Also, just because the person sounds legit on the telephone, this still does not verify the story they are telling you.

Meet in Public:  While this may seem like common sense, you would be suprised how many times people end up on the first date in a private place.  By meeting in public, you are able to leave at any time and it is always the safer option of the two.

Verify their Information: A background check will help verify the persons name, where they live, their criminal record(s), date of birth, properties owned, vehicles owned, professional licenses, marital status, and much more.

Without conducting a background check to verify the facts, there is no way to determine if what your ‘dream date’ is saying is true.  Often times on dating sites, con artist will take on different identities and live a ‘double life’ – lying about their name, using a pre-paid telephone number, and never letting you know anything with factual substance about their life.

Background checks for online dating may seem like overkill, however, in the long run it can save you from being scammed and having your heart broken.

Tiger Woods Infidelity

Tiger Woods infidelity

Tiger Woods infidelity case has been featured on the cover of the New York Post for 16 consecutive days; three more days & he will tie 9/11. Many may wonder what is the hype that has forced all of mainstream media to ignite this as one of the largest headlined stories of the past decade. Is it our obsession with celebrities and their downfalls? Or is it something more, perhaps, that, for many, hits close to home? Are we afraid of the “technology bug” telling our secrets? As suspects begin to arise & more evidence is disclosed in the Tiger Woods cheating case, it leads many of our readers to stop and wonder; both curious about this case as well as their own marital issues.

The more we read about the Tiger Woods case, the more we learn of the hidden life Woods led.   Thirty-three year old Tiger Woods admitted his affair last week to his wife, Elin Nordegren.  After admitting his infidelity, allegations of multiple extramarital affairs have become public knowledge.

Readers, stop to think about both sides of this situation.  We live in a technologically advanced society, where data (blackberries, emails, phones), and vehicles can all be tracked to keep up with the cheaters every next move.  It may even be surprising that for so long Tiger Woods kept this all a secret.  Along with this, the reader is left wondering why do the famous cheat? And are their motives different than the average folk?  It has been said that, “Many therapists say infidelity depends on the motive involved in the affair.  For instance, cheating that is motivated by a partner’s desire to avoid conflict with a spouse can be an unconscious way of forcing unspoken tensions and disputes out in the open; marriages stand a relatively good chance of recovering after such an affair. On the other hand, an “exit affair,” which is motivated by a partner’s decision to quit the marriage, is more difficult to overcome.”

Do you believe a spouse should make every effort to save their infidelity? Or should they choose to separate instead of be ridiculed by the public and for their own peace of mind?  Under what circumstances do you the reader believe that a cheating spouse deserves a second chance? Let our private investigators know what you think today.
